I ran 2,2 km straight from bed. I did one tabata during my morning run. Just have to listen how it feels tomorrow.
It's a rainy day again, but I'll try to play 18 holes of golf.
I am still wondering how to learn bjj and how to learn to teach bjj. (For the teaching part I am also wondering why do I need to teach it - but maybe it's to get partner's who would slow roll. Kind of "old man jiu-jitsu" or in my case "oxjj")
There is really no secrets in learning bjj. It's all about training. Go to training sessions, sparring sessions and seminars a much as you can. Think about your strengths and weaknesses and keep on training. There is no short cuts. Competing may take you further faster but it doesn't take away the need to train.
ReplyDeleteIf you need to take it slow you can always ask your training partners to slow it down at the sparring rounds. That also means that you have to take it slow as well. Slow rolling is easiest with experienced partners but it's possible with anybody as long as both guys are truly willing to take it slowly.
Just keep on rolling and you'll get there :)
Thanks HoneyB, I agree that there is no short cuts and I am working on finding some rolling partners who are willing to drill or at least slow roll. Often our BJJ class is quite intensive - last two times it has been just perfect for me - kind of "summer version". So I need to do some extra training with partners who can take it easy. It would give me a chance to do more techniques or same technique more often.
ReplyDeleteI think that amount of training might not be the only thing that affects your learning. Quality of training and learning might also have something to do with it. So it's not enough to go to all training sessions and seminars, but also figure out how to learn from them. Learning your own game in a big picture like, how will I get better this year and also short term learning strategies like what do I remember or practice/drill from each training session/class.
But with out rolling, it is not possible to learn and it takes time... for me a lot of time:)
thanks for you comment and congrats for your purple belt
