80,4 - "Recovery" , gym and BJJ
My smashing test in golf worked fine. I scored my usual - just in the buffer, but very long drives - long for me that is:)
I'll visit Helsinki for few days: no golf and no bjj - not even youtube.
I just noticed on my morning run that I need to go to gym - otherwise I will have a long break from gym. Next possible workout is on Thursday. So I'll do a workout today.
OK - we are leaving tomorrow - so I have time to go to BJJ and play golf next morning. Not really a recovery day:)

80 - Letting go at golf course
After 4 days tournament, today I'll go and play careless golf and punish my golf balls a little. I'll dig some dirt with my clubs and enjoy the beautiful weather. Next weekend is an important competition - grand prize is to play in Spain or compete for the possibility.

80,5 - second day
After second day I am 15th of 60 players. I would be happy to be in top ten after 4 days. Golf is strange - Some times every thing is easy and you score well, but ...

80,6 - First golf tournament day

I don't have much expectations for this tournament. My game is very unstable. It means that sometimes I play very well for 9 holes, but it has not lasted for a full round. OK - tournament is 4 full rounds so I can expect some not so perfect holes.

80,9 - recovery
I did my morning run and tabatas. Today is recovery and rest of the week is a 4 day golf tournament. If I had a rolling partner I would go slow rolling. I really have to get someone to roll with me. I am hoping that Autumn will change that. Folk comes back from summer vacation fat and eager to roll:)
Today was a great day for slow roll. It was just what I needed - need to do this more often:) ... every day would be make some progress on my rolling.

81,3 - golf and maybe bjj
Bjj class is straight after a round of golf. Previous experience tells me that I might not make it, but you'll never know. I am still trying to figure out how to get people to drill techniques with me. Gracie combatives was not the answer, maybe Ribeiro's book or Ryan Halls DVD is? (I am getting better at imagining the techniques so maybe I can do the drills just as a mental exercises:)

80,8 - old man gross fit or gym
Yesterday was a good day at bjj class. It was slow roll or at least low intensity. I noticed that if I start attacking, my defense sucks. This means that I need to attack more - but after I have a controlled position. No worries - it will come...eventually.

I'm skipping my morning run and playing golf a little earlier. My intention is get to my bjj class. I'll try to slow roll with everyone - or play defensive positions ( as I always do).

81,8 - jog, golf, bjj
Looks like I'm starting to gain weight again. It must be muscle growing. I think if you workout 4 times a week, you can get 1- 2 kg muscle in a year. I go to gym 2 times a week and time of weight increase is one week - so there is a possibility of 25g of new muscle for me. (OK - it's cake.) But it's better to have cake and workout than just eat it.
I've found very interesting new bjj instructors: Rafael Lovato Jr, Ryan Hall, Reaction Team, Marcello C. Monteiro... and many more. I think I need to pick one and try to figure out what is his game about. (Or what should me game be about...)
Did not make it to BJJ Class. I was cleaning strawberries to fridge for winter. Maybe I'll get more strawberry cake and grow a little more:)

81,4 - gym day
I did my morning run second time. I'm not sure if I can do it every morning. Maybe I need to recover from the tabata?
Today is gym and probably it's more maintenance than development. I don't feel hungry enough to build muscle. (But I'm sure I'll get some doms on legs - as usual.)

81,5 - morning run and golf
I ran 2,2 km straight from bed. I did one tabata during my morning run. Just have to listen how it feels tomorrow.
It's a rainy day again, but I'll try to play 18 holes of golf.
I am still wondering how to learn bjj and how to learn to teach bjj. (For the teaching part I am also wondering why do I need to teach it - but maybe it's to get partner's who would slow roll. Kind of "old man jiu-jitsu" or in my case "oxjj")

81 - recovery and weekend trip
I'll play 9 holes golf in the morning, but after that it's preparing for a travel to my mother in law's 80 y party. It's good to have some days for recovery.
On Sunday I'll get to go to one session of a BJJ seminar. So I get only one session from a weekend bjj seminar, but one can't be in two places at the same time.

80,3 - golf and gym or old man cross training
Yesterday was a hard day - golf and bjj. Today is easier: golf and something more. I don't know what this type of training does. Probably it's more on stamina, endurance than muscle growth. Our gym workout is mainly muscle hypertrophy, but doing it after a 4 hour light workout which is burning muscle tissue...Maybe there is a way to turn the catabolic stage to anabolic by eating right after golf and before and after gym. (Otherwise workout will only eat more muscle - not grow).

81,6 - golf and bjj
Today I played an early round of golf and going to a late bjj class. So there is good time to recover.
I still have a similar problem with golf an bjj - cannot relax during playing. Both techniques would be better done loose than rigid. Well, I hope time and training will cure both problems:)

81,1 - little doms on legs
Sundays squats must have made an impact on my legs. I am still feeling it on Tuesday. This means that muscle is growing:)
Today is a light "old man cross training"-session: walking, shot putting, medicine ball routine and long jump. I think I'll leave it at that.

80,6 - golf and stretching
I need to recover, stretch, learn bjj and golf, get stronger and so on. BUT it does not have to happen today. Today I will be better some way, but I just don't know how. Maybe I'll stretch and be a little more flexible:)

80,7 - gym and new gi
I'm not feeling recovered even thou I had a recovery afternoon yesterday. Strange, isn't it. One would think that I'm experienced enough to recover in short time, but no. BUT today is a gym day and I'll put in an order for more muscle.
In the afternoon I'll get my new gi. I ordered it six weeks ago - in March. When you wait for something, it feels like time is crawling. Six weeks feels like four months:)
About golf - I did hit the longest drives this year, but did not score well. No worries. I have two main events this year and first comes in a fortnight.
We were show very interesting techniques at bjj class. I might have to practice some rolling drills to make the moves. I'll try to google, if I find something even close to what we did:)
Ok - this has the same beginning, but different ending.

80 - golf and recovery
Yesterday was an intensive learning day for BJJ. I think I know much more about survival positions today than yesterday. Still it's a long way from theory to practice. Next big issue is escapes from survival positions. That will give some flow to my game.
Today I might try a new driver at the driving range. I will try a new swing during my round for sure. I'll hit "upper swings" like in tennis. (It's not going to make forward spin, but hopefully it will degrease my backspin on drives. Current spin rate is about 3300 rpm and 2500 would be nice.)

80,7 - old man crosstraining and bjj
I'll do a light workout with my neighbor - walking in the woods and slapping mosquitoes to improve range of movement, shot put, medicine ball, long jump and what ever will come in mind to do some coordination and strength.

81,1 - golf (and bjj)
I've planned to play golf 18 holes and then go to open mat. I've noticed that I am making excuses for BJJ exercises. I wonder what I will come up with today:)
Yesterday I was looking for budo mats, just to make a little tatami for my self - to do some solo drills.
Not going to BJJ. Maybe I'll do some solo drills from the book "drill to win", if I'll find a suitable space for it. ( I don't have the energy to continue straight from golf to bjj.)

81 - oldman crosstraining and bjj
Today we will do our first session of summer outdoor training with my neighbor: walking, jumping, medicine ball, kettleball and maybe even a small session of bjj Gracie lessons :) It's more like a warmup for the day with some maximum attempts like long jump and shot put.
In the evening is normal bjj class and my first opportunity to test Ribeiro's survival positions:)

80,7 - golf and drilling
Yesterday was a tough day at gym. I mean everything was heavy. I am sure that golf is taking the edge of strength training, but "no worries" like they say down under. It's a perfect weather for a round of golf and today I'll sign up for a 4 day tournament. Just have not found my game. On my previous round of golf I noticed that I have the same problem with golf and bjj - both are too stiff and too much thinking. Go and figure.
I missed drilling due to I was looking after my grandchild. BUT new drilling book game today. Now nothing can prevent me from becoming better - do you have to do the drills, too?

I bought a foam roller - it's good for almost anything. Also can be used as a pillow when watching TV. Today I'll do some golf swing in our back yard, but main event is gym and boosting some hypertrophy to muscles.

80,4 - it's Sunday
Today is golf and bjj. It's more endurance than strength so muscle will not grow or anaerobic ability will not increase. Hope I'll get my golf swing together and learn something in BJJ class:)
I'm not going to BJJ. I have not recovered from yesterdays workouts. Tomorrow is a gym day and I want to be fresh(er) to grow some muscle:)
